Do you need some time - all alone?

Cue up the Slashy Solo, 'cause the 10 minute (or three week) November reign of silence is coming to an end. Yeeha! Churches, weddings, Stephanie Seymour!!! I think I just used an allusion.

Ah, the old post-submission page is covered with cobwebs. What's the deal here?

As usual, sorry for the dearth. I've been bogged under my own idiotic ambitions of late - a few years ago, the Beck and I caught a computer virus that destroyed all .txt, .doc. .jpg, .gif, etc. files, basically any kind of file you would call personal. So my college papers were swallowed by the digital void some time ago, and it turns out I need a writing sample for my ASU apps. So that's been the overpowering project for the past three weeks, and after much reading/research I finally got a rough draft done and a chance to come up for air. I will post it (the paper, not the chance) somewhere after I give it a once over and count the 79 times I use the phrase "postmodern vantagepoint." It's on Underworld and Lenny Bruce, so you've got at least a few days to read a 827 page book and listen to some comedy albums to set the mood.

That's not the only bit of busy by which we've been passing the time. We had a great visit from Meghan and Greg last week; great to see them and hike / drive / eat around Arizona. Among other things, we:
  • Ate meatloaf a la Beck
  • Went hiking at Cave Creek
  • Watched the Pats squeak by the Colts in SuperBowl 42.5
  • Watched the highly meh Gone Baby Gone
  • Ate at a Mediterranean joint where "without onions and peppers" carries no meaning
  • Went to Sedona and Jerome (actually, the nyetless we did)
  • Ate spicy fish a la Beck
  • Met at Los Olivos to enjoy both Mexican food AND the rare "obnoxious Scottsdale tourist golfer" in his natural habitat / behavior: drunk and loud at a Mexican bar. Yay!
  • Generally hung with the S & W, who did not jump on Greg at all.
  • Finally experienced Japanese Food with the beautiful people of Scottsdale
Big fun, and good conversation abounded. Looking forward to catching up with M/G and the rest of the IPClan in December; looking forward to seeing the Joneses in a couple of days for T-day.

Also taking the time: my excellent fall league Ultimate team, Taco-Technique, who made it to the semis yesterday to cap a great season. That will get a more detailed post in the near future, which, in Nyet YEars, probably means 2012 or so.

As for my relatively-more active blogging pals, a big shout-out to the Frank for the posting of Nyet-wedding pics (here) and big congrats to the Karen for pulling off Mike NTPB's surprise 30th b-day party (and again, sorry I couldn't make it). Good times in the Nyetverse.

And congrats to every sports team even remotely associated with Boston, you crazy world-series winning, undefeated, undefeated, MLS cup-finals making goobers. Hats off!

And after whetting your desires, now Beck and I are trekking down to DC's to watch the Pats extend that little streak of theirs against her lovely Buffalo Bills. So i am forced to leave more posting until the ne'er-coming later. Until then, Wrigley will take your blog and dinner orders:
